An "Old Friend".
It is with personal sadness that I learnt of the passing away of a former Birchwood Evangelical Church Pastor, and friend. John Croston was Pastor of our church here, many years ago, when the church was still meeting in the youth hut at Parkers Farm. It was such a long time ago but seems almost like yesterday.
John was a wonderful Godly man who will be missed by all who got to know him, including those at Birchwood. I will remember his humour, jolly banter, wonderful smile and Godly wisdom; I will miss my “old friend” John.
But this I know; John has gone home to be with the Lord and I will one day see him again. Through Christ we have been promised eternal life with the God of the universe, where one day we will worship together. Our future is assured and we can have full confidence in that fact. Many of you will have lost loved ones and if they belonged to Christ then you will see them again. But there are many we know, that are close to our hearts, yet do not know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. How important is it then, that we should show them to the door that leads to Christ so that they too will share eternity with us.
